Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust
July 4th, 2008They're from Iceland. They don't sing in English. You won't understand a word of it. But don't let that stop you from enjoying the talent that is Sigur Ros. The band Sigur Ros is an Icelandic post-rock band known for its ethereal sound. The group got their name from lead singer Jonsi Birgisson's younger sister named Sigurros, which means Victory Rose in Icelandic.

Tom Petty Would Be So Proud
July 4th, 2008Since early high school I have been a huge John Mayer fan. His live albums are amazing, and it's been several years since he's put out his last one: "Any Given Thursday." Well he's come out with a new live album entitled "Where the Light Is," and I love his version of Tom Petty's "Free Fallin." Check it out below as well as a brand new hit: "In His Atmosphere"

You Don't Have To Have Eyes to Enjoy This Song
June 29th, 2008So this has to be one of the strangest songs I've heard in a while... and I absolutely love it. The NYC based band Hercules & Love Affair is a project from DJ mastermind Andy Butler. An artist by the name of Nomi also chimes in on vocals, as well as fellow musicians Kim Ann Foxman and Antony Hegarty. Their first single "Blind" was released in March of '08 with a run as an Itunes song of the week. Chanel featured "Blind" on their website and included it in their Fall/Winter 2008 Fashion show.
Check it out below.

Sam Sparro Has Got What It Takes
June 27th, 2008Are we ready for him??
I recently posted (over a month ago) a blog about my obsession with a certain song called "Black and Gold" by an artist by the name of Sam Sparro. Well this week, ITunes just posted my favorite little song as their song of the week!!! Woo Hoo Sam Sparro!!
So after researching more of his works from his self-titled album, I found the guy has some really catchy music. It's got a sort of Jamiroquai feel to it, with a bit of Justin Timberlake's talent minus all the falsetto. I can see his music doing really well in American radio circles. Let's hope it does.
I have included a few favorites again so enjoy them and tell your friends where you heard it first!

Ray, If You're Reading This, Marry Me?
June 27th, 2008Since 2005 Ray Lamontagne has been courting me. He's swept me off my feet, he's comforted me through the tough times, he's got me through it. He didn't know this, but he has. I first discovered Ray when an ex of mine gave me two of his singles: "Jolene" & "Trouble." After digging a little deeper, I found the wealth of flawless soulful songs by Mr. Lamontagne did not stop there. For Father's Day this year I gave both my father and step-father a compilation of my favorite songs by this extremely talented man. For you reader's out there I'm giving you my top 5 favorite, most played out Ray Lamontagne hits.
